Fix a Windows update problem

Resolve stuck downloads, failed installs and restart loops.

1. Confirm the PC has reliable internet, enough free storage and is connected to power.
2. Restart Windows, then open Settings → Windows Update and choose Check for updates again.
3. Run Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Windows Update.
4. If the same update repeatedly fails, record its error code and update number before using Microsoft’s support guidance.
