Pause when a message creates urgency, fear, secrecy or an unexpected payment request.

Check the full sender address and open the organization through its official app or typed website—not the message link.

Verify unusual requests through a separate known contact method and report the message.

Important tip

A familiar display name can hide a completely different sender address.

Practical example

A delivery text says a fee is due today. Do not use its link. Open the courier’s official app or type its known website, enter the tracking number there, and report the text if the request is not confirmed.

Common mistakes to avoid

Calling the phone number or using the unsubscribe link inside a suspicious message.
Assuming correct spelling, a logo or a familiar display name proves authenticity.
Forwarding a dangerous attachment to colleagues as a warning.
